MR. FERGUSON OF KINMUNDY, in moving the adoption of the Report, said THE REPORT just read is probably one of a hundred Offices in the kingdom not 1 the most satisfactory ever presented to you. This, I need not say, is a very high proportion, particularly for an Office in which, from the low average age of the members, the premiums will continue to be drawn for a lengthened period.

Mr. JOHN COWAN, Beeslack, seconded the motion; which, with the Resolution for
Payment of Claims, was unanimously approved of.

THE ADVANTAGES which this Institution offers to Assurers are:-

HIS ASSOCIATION presents the benefits of LIFE ASSURANCE in a variety of forms adapted to the circumstances and requirements of all classes, at RATES of PREMIUM which will bear favourable comparison with those of any other Company affording similar advantages. It also furnishes

PROVISIONS FOR OLD AGE

in the shape of ENDOWMENT-ASSURANCES, payable to the Assured themselves on the attainment of Specified Ages, or to their Representatives at death, should that happen sooner.

NON-FORFEITURE POLICIES.

Under the NON-FORFEITURE SYSTEM, premiums are payable for a limited number of years only, and each payment (after a fifth of the whole number has been made) secures absolutely a proportionate part of the Sum Assured. Policy-holders can thus, if they find it expedient, discontinue the payment of premiums without losing any of the benefits for which they may have already paid.

IMMEDIATE PARTICIPATION IN PROFITS.

The PROFITS are ascertained and divided every Five Years,-NINE-TENTHS (NINETY PER CENT.) being appropriated to the Assured, and each Policy-holder having an equitable share allotted to him, however recent his Assurance. At the Seven successive Periodical Investigations, which took place in 1846, 1853, 1860, 1865, 1870, 1875, and 1880, REVERSIONARY BONUS ADDITIONS, at rates which have never been less than

one pound ten shillings per cent. PER ANNUM,

were made to the Sums Assured by all Participating Policies effected for the whole term of life. Thus a Policy for £1000 opened in 1840 now amounts to £1650.

The EIGHTH QUINQUENNIAL INVESTIGATION and DIVISION of PROFITS will take place at Christmas, 1885.

SUBSISTING ASSURANCES, £4,350,000 CLAIMS PAID,
