The grass hath long grown over the grave of our honored and deeply lamented father Bums. Other generations have arisen, and in answer to his prayers, the Lord hath sent abundant and able laborers into his Vineyard. But the fathers are not forgotten; and it is in accordance with the wishes of many long-tried friends to the cause of Universal Reconciliation, that the following Memoir has been written. Those wishes are the best eulogy of his character. Bumble and unassum ing, he would not himself have desired any thing ever to be written of an ostentatious nature, appertaining either to his private or ministerial life.
