(b) The first three schools are under the auspices of the United States Government; the others under the patronage of the American Board of Foreign Missions. Good progress is made in reading, writing, arithmetic, and geography. (c) This is a new agency, and the money appropriated has not been more than enough for food and clothing.

(d) Report of 1871. (e) The American Board of Foreign Missions expect to establish a school September 1, 1872.

(f) The school for the boys is taught in the morning; that for the girls in the afternoon.
