The nebula seemed much fainter on both June 24 and June 25 than it did on June 4 and June 5, and the spectrum recorded on the third plate was disappointingly faint. Is the nebula variable in brightness?

This nebula consists of a stellar nucleus surrounded by bright matter in the form of a disk about 11 seconds of are in diameter. A bright elongation extends from the northwest edge of the disk and a faint one from the opposite edge, in position angle about 347°.

On the three spectrograms obtained with the slit along the line of these elongations, the nebular lines appear somewhat S-shaped. The observed inclination of the central section of the line, expressed as the radial velocity of a point southeast of the nucleus, minus that of the corresponding point northwest of the center, is as follows:

The spectrogram of June 2, taken with 3-pr. 32-in., is under-exposed, and the N, line is irregular, and difficult to measure. Although the inclination is small, the agreement of the spectrograms with the image on the slit in the direct and reverse positions indicates that the above evidence of rotational effects is entitled to considerable weight. No inclination of the lines was found on the plate of May 25, 1916, for which the slit was placed on the shorter axis of figure.
