Jésus-Christ rassasie cinq mille hommes avec cinq pains, marche sur l'eau, et s'entretient avec le peuple sur le vrai pain du ciel, etc. APRÈS cela Jésus passa au delà de la mer de Galilée, qui est aussi appelée la mer de Tibériade. 2 Et une grande foule de peuple le suivoit, parcequ'ils voyoient les miracles qu'il faisoit sur ceux qui étoient malades. 3 Mais Jésus monta sur une montagne, où il s'assit avec ses disciples. 4 Or le jour de Pâque, qui est la principale fête des Juifs, étoit proche. 5 Jésus donc ayant levé les yeux, et voyant une grande foule de peuple qui venoit à lui, dit à Philippe D'où acheterons-nous des pains, afin que ces gens-ci aient à manger? 6 Or il disoit cela pour l'éprouver, car il savoit bien ce qu'il devoit faire. 7 Philippe lui répondit: Deux cents deniers de pain ne suffiroient pas, pour en donner un peu à chacun. 8 Un autre de ses disciples, savoir André, frère de Simon Pierre, lui dit: honour that cometh from God only? 45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? CHAP. VI. Five thousand miraculously fed. Ces gens s'assirent donc, au nombre d'environ cinq mille. 11 Et Jésus prit les pains, et ayant rendu graces, il les distribua à ses disciples, et ses disciples à ceux qui étoient assis; et il leur donna de même des poissons, autant qu'ils en voulurent. 12 Après qu'ils furent rassasiés, il dit à ses disciples: Ramassez les morceaux qui sont restés, afin que rien ne se perde. 13 Ils les ramassèrent donc, et ils remplirent douze paniers des morceaux des cinq pains d'orge, qui étoient restés à ceux qui en avoient mangé. 14 Et ces gens ayant vu le miracle que Jésus avoit fait, disoient: Celui-ci est véritablement le prophète qui devoit venir au monde. 15 Mais Jésus ayant connu qu'ils alloient venir pour l'enlever, afin de le faire roi, se retira encore seul sur la montagne. 16 Quand le soir fut venu, ses disciples descendirent au bord de la mer. 17 Et étant entrés dans une barque, ils vouloient passer la mer pour aller à Capernaum; il faisoit déja obscur, et Jésus n'étoit pas encore venu à eux. 18 Et la mer élevoit ses vagues, par un grand vent qui souffloit. 19 Mais quand ils eurent ramé environ vingt-cinq ou trente stades, ils virent Jésus qui marchoit sur la mer, et qui étoit 9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley-loaves and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? 10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. And it was dark, and Jesus was not come to them. now 18 And the sea arose, by reason of a great wind that blew. 19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing près de la barque; et ils eurent peur. 20 Mais il leur dit: C'est moi, n'ayez point de peur. 21 Ils le reçurent donc avec plaisir dans la barque, et incontinent la barque aborda au lieu où ils alloient. 22 Le lendemain, la troupe qui étoit demeurée de l'autre côté de la mer, voyant qu'il n'y avoit point eu là d'autre barque que celle dans laquelle ses disciples étoient entrés; que Jésus n'y étoit point entré avec eux, et que ses disciples s'en étoient allés seuls ; 23 (Mais il étoit arrivé d'autres barques de Tibériade près du lieu où ils avoient mangé le pain, après que le Seigneur eut rendu graces ;) 24 Cette troupe donc voyant que Jésus n'étoit point là, ni ses disciples, ils entrèrent dans des barques, et allèrent à Capernaum, chercher Jésus. 25 Et l'ayant trouvé de l'autre côté de la mer, ils lui dirent: Maître, quand es-tu arrivé ici? 26 Jésus leur répondit et leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, que vous me cherchez, non parceque vous avez vu des miracles, mais parceque vous avez mangé des pains, et que vous avez été rassasiés. 27 Travaillez pour avoir, non la nourriture qui périt, mais celle qui demeure jusqu'à la vie éternelle, et que le Fils de l'homme vous donnera; car le Père, qui est Dieu, l'a marqué de son sceau. 28 Ils lui dirent: Que feronsnous pour faire les oeuvres de Dieu ? 29 Jésus leur répondit: C'est ici l'oeuvre de Dieu, que vous nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. 20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. 21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went. 22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea, saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone; 23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias, nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks ;) 24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. 25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? 26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of 30 Alors ils lui dirent: Quel' miracle fais-tu donc, afin que nous le voyions, et que nous croyions en toi? Quelle oeuvre fais-tu ? 31 Nos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert, selon qu'il est écrit: Il leur a donné à manger le pain du ciel. 32 Et Jésus leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis: Moïse ne vous a point donné le pain du ciel; mais mon Père vous donne le vrai pain du ciel. 33 Car le pain de Dieu est celui qui est descendu du ciel, et qui donne la vie au monde. 34 Ils lui dirent: Seigneur, donne-nous toujours de ce painlà. 35 Et Jésus leur dit: Je suis le pain de vie: Celui qui vient à moi n'aura point de faim, et celui qui croit en moi n'aura jamais soif. 36 Mais je vous l'ai déja dit, que vous m'avez vu, et cependant vous ne croyez point. 37 Tout ce que le Père me donne viendra à moi, et je ne mettrai point dehors celui qui viendra à moi. 38 Car je suis descendu du ciel pour faire, non ma volonté, mais la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé. 39 Et c'est ici la volonté du Père qui m'a envoyé, que je ne perde aucun de ceux qu'il m'a donnés; mais que je les ressuscite au dernier jour. 40 C'est ici la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé, que quiconque contemple le Fils, et croit en lui, ait la vie éternelle; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. 30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert: as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. 32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you, that ye also have seen me, and believe not. 37 All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, That of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, That every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. pas 42 Et ils disoient: N'est-ce là Jésus, le fils de Joseph, dont nous connoissons le père et la mère? Quiconque donc a écouté le Père, et a été instruit par lui, vient à moi. 46 Ce n'est pas que personne ait vu le Père, si ce n'est celui qui vient de Dieu; c'est lui qui a vu le Père. 47 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis: Celui qui croit en moi a la vie éternelle. 48 Je suis le pain de vie. 49 Vos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert, et ils sont morts. 50 C'est ici le pain qui est descendu du ciel, afin que celui qui en mange ne meure point. 51 Je suis le pain vivant, qui est descendu du ciel: Si quelqu'un mange de ce pain, il vivra éternellement; et le pain que je donnerai c'est ma chair, que je donnerai pour la vie du monde. 52 Les Juifs donc disputoient entre eux, disant: Comment cet homme peut-il nous donner sa chair à manger? 53 Jésus leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis: Si vous ne mangez la chair du Fils de l'homme, et si vous ne buvez son 41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know?
