4 Je rends graces à mon Dieu, faisant toujours mention de toi dans mes prières;

5 Apprenant la foi que tu as au Seigneur Jésus, et ta charité envers tous les saints;

PAUL,

a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon dearly beloved, and fellow-labourer,

our

2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus, our fellow-soldier, and to the church in thy

house:

3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my

prayers,

5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;

6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

10 Je te prie donc pour mon fils Onésime, que j'ai engendré étant dans les chaînes;

11 Qui t'a autrefois été inutile, mais qui te sera présentement très-utile, aussi bien qu'à moi;

9 Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ;

10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:

11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable thee and to

me:

to

12 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels;

13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

14 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.

15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;

16 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, especially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord?

17 If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.

18 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;

19 I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.

23 Epaphras, qui est prisonnier avec moi pour Jésus-Christ, te salue;

CHAP. I.

Christ far above angels.

IEU ayant autrefois parlé GOD, who at sundry times

2 Nous a parlé en ces derniers tems par son Fils, qu'il a établi héritier de toutes choses; par lequel aussi il a fait le monde;

manners

and in spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

- 11 Ils périront, mais tu subsistes toujours; ils vieilliront tous comme un vêtement;

6 And again, when he bringeth in the first-begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom:

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows,

10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning, hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

11 They shall perish, but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;

12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

CHAP. II.

Obedience due to Christ.

HEREFORE we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
