The arms are tricked without any blazon in Brit. Mus. Add. MS., 26,702, fol. 756, with the note, "John Pulleyn of Kelingehall in Yorks.' Azure, on a bend cottised argent, three escallops gules, on a chief or as many martlets azure. These arms are given in Glover's Arms of the Northern Gentry (MS. Ashmole, 834, iv, fol. 256) with the crest, on a wreath or and azure a horse's head erased sable, bridled or, gorged with two bracelets gold, headed "John Pulleyn of Killinghall, esquire, given in ye time of Henry ye eight xxvth yere' (1533-4). The arms here reproduced, with the one quartering of Burdett, are given to "Pullen of Scotton" in the same MS. Evidently there has been some confusion about the armes. Glover in his Ordinary gives another arms of Pulleyne, which probably explains the introduction of the chief, they are, Or, on a chief gules, three martlets of Killinghall is a village in the parish of Ripley in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
