COVENANT.

Convinced of your guilt, and professing unfeigned repentence for your sins, and an humble reliance on Jesus Christ for pardon and eternal life, you do now in the presence of God and this assembly, seriously and forever give up yourselves to God the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost, avouching the Lord Jehovah to be your God; Jesus Christ to be your Prophet, Priest and King; and the Holy Ghost your Sanctifier, Comforter and Guide. You promise, divine grace assisting you, to receive in love the pure doctrines of

the gospel; to walk in the statutes and ordinances of the Lord, and to adorn your high and holy vocation by a life of piety towards God, and of benevolence towards your fellow men.

You do also cordially join yourselves to this Church of Chest, engaging to submit to its discipline till regularly dismissed therefrom ;—to promote its edification, purity and peace,-to walk with and watch over its members in Christian love: to observe the Sacraments of the New Testament; to sanctify the Lord's day, to attend upon the public worship of the sanctuary, and as far as consistent upon the stated and occasional meetings of the Church; and to discharge al those duties by which God may be glorified, and the religion of the Bible extended and established among men.

You enter into these solemn engagements in humble dependence on the grace of God, and with an affecting belief that your vows are recorded on high, and will be reviewed in the day of final Judgment.

To this covenant you give your cordial consent. We then as a Church do cordially receive you into our fellowship and communion, and give thanks to God, who, we trust, has inclined your heart to fear his name. We promise to treat you with Christian affection; to watch over you with tenderness, and to offer our prayers to the great Head of the Church, to enable you to fulfil the solemn covenant which you have now made.

The Lord bless you, and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace;-make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever, Amen.
