AND ALL LUNG DISEASES.

By G. T. CONGREVE, Coombe Lodge, Peckham.

The Nature, Progress, and True Treatment of this Scourge of England, with 133 Selected Cases.

The following Cases are from the TWELFTH SERIES, now commencing:

CONSUMPTION.-CASE of Mrs. L. JEFFCOAT, SUTTON BRIDGE (LINC).

The first communication was dated October 29 of last year. For three years the patient's health had been gradually failing. Several relatives had suffered with chest disease.

At this time there was great loss of flesh, and general weakness; pains in chest and right side, expectoration being purulent and streaked with blood, breathing constantly affected, hectic flushes at night, swelling of the feet and ankles.

Medicine and advice were forwarded immediately. Letter received December 4 reported "general improvement, expectoration free from blood, breathing better, hecti flushes less, no night perspirations, strength increased." There were palpitations of the heart for which instructions were given and medicine, &c., forwarded as before.

In the course of another month she was greatly improved. In the cold weather remained somewhat at a standstill, but in the spring became thoroughly well.

In a letter dated May 11 the husband writes:-"It is some weeks since my wife discontinued your Balsam, &c. I am pleased to say she now feels well, and joins me in thanking you for your kindness, and above all for the means you were in restoring her to health." STATION COTTAGE, BRIDGE ROAD, SUTTON BRIDGE, Linc.

CONSUMPTION.-CASE of Miss M. E. LAIDLAW.

In August, 1883, I received a letter from a friend of this patient, urging my best consideration of her case. Both her parents had died from Consumption. At this time she was suffering from every symptom of this fell disease. She had been compelled to resign her situation, and (as her friend writes), "the doctors had told her she would never be able to take a situation again."

I gave my best attention to her case, and the correspondence extended from that time to May, 1884. During that nine months there was a gradual improvement (with slight variations), till she got thoroughly well.

Recently I received a letter as follows:

"DEAR SIR,-Miss Laidlaw, after being under your treatment for nearly ten months, gradually left off your medicine, and has been without it for six weeks. She still maintains her strength. She has taken a situation, and we believe she is alive and in fair good health entirely through your treatment.-JOHN HAYES, 15, WORDSWORTH STREET, PENRITH."

EXTRACT from a LETTER as to CASE at DEAL.

Mr. W. DARRACOTT, of High Street, when writing me on behalf of a relative, says:"You remember my correspondence with you. I was given up by two doctors; but after taking your medicine for nine or ten months, was restored to perfect health."

MR. CONGREVE IS PUBLISHING A NEW CASE FOR EVERY WEEK IN THE "CHRISTIAN WORLD," "GLOBE," "HERALD," AND ABOUT TWENTY WEEKLY PAPERS. THE READER WHO HAS ANY INTEREST IN CASES OF CHEST DISEASE IS EARNESTLY REQUESTED TO WATCH FOR THEM WEEK BY WEEK.
