AN ACT OF CHARITY.

O Lord, my God, I love Thee with my whole heart, and above all things, because Thou, O God, art the sovereign Good, and for Thy own infinite perfections, art most worthy of all love; and for Thy sake, I also love my neighbour as myself.

AN ACT OF CONTRITION.

O my God, who art infinitely good, and always hatest sin, I beg pardon from my heart for all my offences against Thee. I detest them all, and am heartily sorrow for them; because they offend Thy infinite goodness; and I firmly resolve by the help of Thy grace never more to offend Thee, and carefully to avoid the occa

sions of sin.

LAY BAPTISM.

Provided an infant is in danger of dying before a Priest can be procured, any other person, whether man, woman, or child, may baptize it in the following manner :—

Whilst pouring common water on the head or face of the infant, pronounce the words,

"I baptize thee in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen."

V. Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariæ.
R. Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.
Ave Maria.

V. Ecce ancilla Domini.

R. Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum.
Ave Maria.

V. Et Verbum caro factum est.

R. Et habitavit in nobis.

V. Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei genitrix.
R. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

Oremus.

Gratiam tuam, quæsumus, Domine, mentibus nostris infunde; ut qui Angelo nuntiante Christi Filii tui incarnationem cognovimus, per Passionem ejus et Crucem ad resurrectionis gloriam perducamur. Per eumdem Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.

Angelus dicitur flexis genibus præterquam in Dominicis, a primis vesperis, id est a vesperis Sabbati; et in tempore Paschali (a Sabbato Sancto usque ad Dominicum Trinitatis, quando dicitur stando.

V. The Angel of the Lord announced unto Mary.

R. And she conceived of the Holy Ghost.
Hail Mary.

V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

R. Be it done unto me according to Thy word.

Hail Mary.

V. And the Word was made flesh.

R. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary.

N. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray.

Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of an Angel, may, by His Passion and Cross, be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen. [100 days.

The Angelus is said kneeling, except on Sundays, beginning with First Vespers, that is, Saturday evening; and in Paschal time (from Holy Saturday to Trinity Sunday), when it is said standing.

SAID FOR THE ANGELUS IN PASCHAL TIME.

Joy to thee, O Queen of Heaven! alleluia. He whom thou wast meet to bear: alleluia, As He promised hath arisen: alleluia. Pour for us to Him thy prayer: alleluia.

V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary : alleluia.

R. For the Lord hath risen indeed: alleluia.

Let us pray.

O God, who didst vouchsafe to give joy to the world through the Resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ; grant, we beseech Thee, that, through His Mother, the Virgin Mary, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

GLORIA PATRI.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

100 days for saying three Glorys, morning, noon, and evening, in thanksgiving for the graces given to our Blessed Lady, especially in her glorious Assumption.
