He was a descendant of Thomas Nichols, who was living at Amesbury, Massachusetts, by 1667, and of Sussanna Martin, who was executed for witchcraft in 1692. He married Lydia Ropes in 1774. They had eleven children, 1776- 1797. He died at Salem in 1839. Descendants listed lived in Massachusetts, Maine, Illinois, and elsewhere. |
