A research database dedicated to information about authors of children's and young adult literature. A negative of this database is that it hasn't been updated since June 2010 making it still useful, but quickly becoming obsolete. Students would be better off reading Wikipedia entries for generally more concise and up to date information. The information contained in this database is useful and could lead to unique lines of inquiry but is quickly becoming obsolescent. The information contained in this database is clearly from a print version as the entries are PDF versions of the printed volumes which would explain why the material hasn't been updated. Students in high school would find the information useful when doing research on children and YA authors. Recommended when all else fails. (

This is a huge, multi-volume set. Each volume contains a selection of biographies of authors. At the suggestion of librarians, cumulative indexes are now only included in odd-numbered volumes. Each volume lists forthcoming biographies. Entries contain a huge amount of information. Some of the more unusual categories include works in progress, adaptations of the author’s books, and memberships. Often there are photographs of the authors and book covers. (
